| Queensland's
h2o Adventures
Queensland home to the Great Barrier Reef, rainforest
enclosed rivers, protected bays and expansive mangrove forests.
It is the place where h2o adventures abound.
Fishing in Queensland
Famous for its marlin fishing in the northern Great Barrier Reef,
Queensland has something for every angler. Whether it be chasing
that elusive blue or black marlin, fly fishing for barramundi in
the Hinchinbrook, spending a few days catching red emperor on the
reef, or simply spending some time with the family fishing for whiting
in Moreton Bay. It is all here.
If the thrill of gamefishing is your passion then
try the Gold and Sunshine Coasts during March and April for blue
and little black marlin, then Townsville's Cape Bowling Green in
August and September for sailfish, and the big black marlin call
the waters off Lizard Is home between October and November. For
barramundi you cannot go past the mangrove forests of the Hinchinbrook
Channel, or the wilderness of Cape York and the impoundments of
the Capricorn Coast.
Diving in Queensland
From Flinders Reef off Brisbane, to the unspoilt reefs of the Coral
Sea, there is every type of experience imaginable for divers in
Queensland. Imagine snorkelling with Minkie Whales or diving as
the coral spawns, choose from a full day on the reef, overnight
on a luxury liveaboard or walking off the beach. It is all here.
Cairns and the Whitsundays are the focus of the dive
industry in Queensland. In both locations you will find reliable
dive schools, comfortable liveaboards and value for money day trips.
Venture north of Cairns and south of the Whitsundays, and operators
can take you to sites few people visit each year.
Bare Boating in Queensland
Whether it is sailing the Whitsundays with a group of friends, finding
that spot to wet a line with your mates in the Hinchinbrook Channel
or exploring what is around the corner in Moreton Bay. There is
a bare boating experience for everyone in Queensland. Whether it
is on a dam or in a protected estuary along the coast. It is all
here.
From the protected waterways of Hinchinbrook's mangrove
forests, to the dolphin playground of Hervey Bay or the calm waters
of Tinaroo Dam, there is a house boat to suit everyone's preferences.
For pleasures of sailing, you can not go past the bays and islands
of the Whitsundays. Based from Hamilton Island and Shute Harbour,
a range of well known companies offer varying types of yachts for
a couple to the whole family.
