Privacy Statement

This statement discloses the privacy practices for www.qcva.com.au . We have designed the QCVA Web Site so that no personal identifying information is displayed online or is accessible to the general public.

How is personal information collected?
QCVA is an Assoication representing stakeholders of the aquatic tourism industry. In order to provide customers with a quality service, QCVA offers customers the ability to purchase and utilise products and services through three different sales and support channels:
• In-person sales and services
• Online sales and Email support, and
• Telephone sales and support

These channels reflect the different ways in which QCVA may collect personal information about customers. Collection will occur at the time you make a purchase, use our services or when you register as wishing to receive information about our products and services, through our website.

Non-customer information
Sometimes, QCVA needs to collect personal information about individuals who are not customers. This will usually arise where we collect the name and business contact details of a person who is the contact in a government agency or company with whom we deal. QCVA's policy is to only use personal information collected from non-customers for the main business purpose for which it was collected.

What personal information does QCVA collect, and why?
If you purchase products or services from QCVA, we need to collect personal information about you so that we can process your booking or enquiry. By information we mean your name, mailing address, Email address and preferences.

The reason we need this information is so that we can maintain communication with you, in the provision of our services. To better understand what sort of tourism experiences our clients are looking for, we may also ask you to provide us with extra information regarding your personal or professional interests, demographics, experience with our products, and more detailed contact preferences.

Clients have the choice of providing this information to further personalise their experience with us. Any information shared with us remains completely confidential. Unless you tell us otherwise, we will use personal information about you for marketing and research purposes, so that we may improve our service to you and other consumers. You can let us know if you no longer wish to receive marketing material - all you need to do is contact QCVA (the contact details of our Privacy Officer are below).

Use and Disclosure of Personal Information
QCVA uses your information to better understand your needs and provide you with better service. Specifically, we use your information to help you complete a transaction, to communicate back to you, to update you on service, products & benefits, to personalise our web sites for you, research our audience's tourism preferences, interests and behaviour and gather broad non-identifying demographic and socio-economic information. We use your personal information to enable us to provide you with the information you request about our product, to fulfil/confirm your bookings and to ensure you are correctly invoiced. The personal information we collect from you will be shared with our service partners who are involved in fulfilling the purchases you have made from us.

Unless we have your permission or are required by law, we do not sell or provide the information collected or stored about you, to third parties who are not our contractors or business partners. Details are only supplied to a third party suppliers when it is required to provide good or services which you have purchased. Furthermore, we do not send out unsolicited e-mail.

Your privacy choices
If you receive information from QCVA it is because you have requested it. At any time you can be removed from our database and receive no more information from us. If you have registered to receive communications from us and later change your mind, you may contact us to have your name removed from our distribution lists by sending an e-mail to info@qcva.com.au.

When you use our e-cards or other promotional programs you'll be providing details of people who may never have visited this site. QCVA will not disclose the recipient addresses and will not send them any promotional information other than that specific product i.e. the e-card.

Links
The web site may contain links to non-QCVA web sites. QCVA is not responsible for the privacy practices of such web sites.

Cookies
QCVA uses software tags called "cookies" to identify customers when they visit our site. Cookies are used to remember user preferences and maximise performance of our services. The information we collect with cookies is not sold, rented, or shared with any outside parties.

The use of cookies is an industry standard and many Web sites use them to provide useful features for you. Cookies in and of themselves do not personally identify you, only your computer.

Log Files
QCVA maintains log files of the traffic that visits the QCVA site. We do not link any information gathered in these log files to personally identifying information. Log files are used to manage traffic loads and information technology requirements for providing reliable service. Information collected includes IP addresses and browser types.

Information and Data Security
All personal information collected is stored and maintained in a secure database that limits access to authorised personnel only, through a series of access-control procedures. All QCVA employees are briefed about the company's privacy and security policies on a regular basis, and are required to treat personal information held by QCVA as confidential. The Firstlight web site is regularly tested for security breaches to ensure that all information collected is secure from unauthorised viewing. However, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, so we cannot give an absolute assurance that the information you provide to us will be secure at all times. QCVA will not be held responsible for events arising from unauthorised access to your personal information.

Access and correction
To ensure your privacy, only you can view your personal details. You may access your personal information details to correct information that is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date. If you would like to change your information on our database, please e-mail this request to info@qcva.com.au.

Notification of Privacy Policy Changes
Our commitment to offering a specialised dive / sail experience means that our business will continue to evolve as we introduce new products and services. Because of this, QCVA may change its Privacy Policy at any time. If we change our Privacy Policy, we will notify you by posting a notice on our website. If at any point we decide to use personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time it was collected, we will notify users by Email. Users will have a choice as to whether or not we use their previously submitted information in this different manner. Users may choose to have their information used in accordance with the privacy policy under which the information was collected.
