Gold Coast Winter Fishing
While the temperature starts to drop in the southern states, Queensland's Gold Coast again becomes the place to be for a family fishing getaway. Regularly the inshore reefs off Surfers Paradise and South Stradebroke Island benefit from calm conditions in the mornings, offering a comfortable fishing adventure for all ages. Inside the protected waters of the Gold Coast Broadwater and Southern Moreton Bay, the Coast's fleet of calm waters fishing operators can put you on to a tasty feed of flathead and trevally. For more information visit Gone Fishing Safaris, Mac's Boat Hire and Sportfishing or our other Gold Coast QCVA Members.

New QCVA Info Hub
Queensland Charter Vessel Association is developing a Internet site promoting the best Queensland has to offer in fishing, boating, diving and calm water tours. Launching in late June, the new qcva.com.au will include a directory of marine tour operators, destination profiles, regular articles on what is happening in the State and suggestions for accommodation, tours and events.

Northern Expedition
Undersea Explorer out of Port Douglas in Tropical North Queensland has become renowned for its research expeditions where recreational divers work along side scientists to better understand and preserve the reef. Offering liveaboard expeditions to some of the Great Barrier Reef's unspoilt outer reefs, Undersea Explorer is involved in projects including shark research and mapping the fragile reef ecosystem. Visit undersea.com.au.

Marlin Fleet Readies For Season
Come August many of the renowned marlin crews will have moved their vessels north to start the 2005 Marlin Season in the sailfish hotspot of Townsville's Cape Bowling Green. During September they will fish one of the many tournaments along the tropical North Queensland coast before basing themselves from luxury motherships and Lizard Island to chase the giant black marlin. One site where you can follow some of the action is Captain Jim Dalling's Reel Chase website at www.reelchase.com.au.
